David Baldwin Death, Obituary: In Loving Memory Of David Baldwin
We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend and cherished board member, David Baldwin. Dave’s loss leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him and working alongside him, and in the very fabric of the Woodstock Film Festival community he helped shape.
Dave joined the Woodstock Film Festival Board in 2017, bringing with him decades of wisdom, vision, and experience from a remarkable career in the entertainment industry. As one of the early architects of HBO and later an executive at Starz, Dave played a pivotal role in shaping the modern landscape of television and storytelling. His influence reached far beyond titles and accomplishments; he understood deeply the power of stories to connect people, challenge perspectives, and inspire change. That belief made him a natural and passionate advocate for independent film and the mission of our festival.
As a board member, Dave was a trusted leader and a generous supporter, always willing to offer guidance, encouragement, and thoughtful insight. He approached every conversation with clarity and purpose, yet never lost his sense of humor or humanity. His dry wit, sharp intellect, and love of life brought warmth and levity to even the most serious discussions, and his presence made every gathering richer.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dave will be remembered most for his friendship. He was kind, loyal, and genuinely interested in the people around him. His lively spirit, thoughtful counsel, and infectious enthusiasm for storytelling left a lasting impression on colleagues, artists, and friends alike. He believed in people, in creative voices, and in the importance of nurturing community—and he lived those values every day.
Our hearts go out to his daughter, Kelly, his loved ones, and all who are mourning this tremendous loss. We share in their grief and honor Dave’s life, legacy, and the countless ways he touched those around him. David Baldwin will be greatly missed, but his influence, his laughter, and his unwavering belief in the power of stories will continue to resonate for years to come.
