Rachel Savage Found Dead: In Loving Memory Of Rachel Savage
The Columbus, Georgia community is mourning a devastating domestic tragedy that occurred on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, in the 3600 block of Grier Avenue, near the Columbus Airport.
Authorities responded in the late morning after a 911 call reported a shooting at the residence. Rachel Savage, 52, was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead from a homicide by Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.
Rachel’s 29-year-old son was also found deceased at the scene and was later determined to have died from a suicide. Additionally, his grandmother, Rachel’s mother, sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown campus for treatment. Her current condition has not been released.
Investigators, including Columbus Police officers, crime scene personnel, violent crimes detectives, and the Muscogee County Coroner’s Office, were on site documenting the property and collecting evidence. Animal control officers from the Paws Humane Society were also present during the investigation.
This incident marks the first homicide of 2026 in Muscogee County and the first since November 2025. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Columbus Police Department.
Rachel Savage is remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and respected member of her community. Her life, alongside the tragic deaths and injuries of her family, has left friends, neighbors, and loved ones in deep shock and grief.
